Usmani Thomas fired in a second-half double to lead Edinburgh 500 to a convincing 4-0 thrashing of leaders Harlem Strikers, in the CRILLE Central Football Association Premier Division at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Woodford Lodge on Friday night. After a 0-0 first 45 minutes, Thomas opened the scoring in the 55th minute while Stephen Julien made it 2-0 in 67th, before Thomas (78th) and Amelias James (88th) added the other items to complete the comfortable win. Despite the loss, Strikers which has been on a steady downward spiral in recent matches still lead with 23 points from 11 matches, but Edinburgh now trails in second with 20 points, one ahead of Cunupia FC which has a match in hand.
Today, Cunupia will have a chance to add to Strikers' misery when both teams faced off at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni. Two double-headers are on schedule for Thursday at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Woodford Lodge, and Edinburgh from 5.30 pm at both venues. At Woodford Lodge, Cap Off Youths face Perseverance Ball Runners in the first match followed by St Mary's United against Enterprise Youths, while Edinburgh is at home to ADL Couva Sports from 5.30 pm, to be followed by Las Lomas United versus KC Perseverance United two hours later.
