Women of T&T will be out in mass­es on Sat­ur­day for the Sco­tia­bank Women Against Breast Can­cer 5K Clas­sic which starts at 4 pm. There will be the cus­tom­ary aer­o­bic warm-up at 3.30 pm. Sco­tia­bank has worked close­ly with the T&T Road Run­ners Club in co-or­di­nat­ing the event which is now in its 14th year. The pro­ceeds from fundrais­ing have helped over 16,000 women in T&T ben­e­fit from breast can­cer screen­ing clin­ics, ul­tra­sounds at se­lect­ed health and med­ical in­sti­tu­tions. The 5k Clas­sic is open to fe­male par­tic­i­pants on­ly, of all age-groups.

This much an­tic­i­pat­ed event has grown sig­nif­i­cant­ly since its in­cep­tion and in­clude si­mul­ta­ne­ous races at Queen's Park Sa­van­nah, Port-of-Spain; Store Bay, To­ba­go; and Skin­ner's Park, San Fer­nan­do, which has al­lowed for greater na­tion­al in­volve­ment and par­tic­i­pa­tion. Reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able at all branch­es of Sco­tia­bank, dur­ing nor­mal bank­ing op­er­a­tions, at a cost of $50 per par­tic­i­pant. T-shirts com­mem­o­rat­ing the 5K Clas­sic, are avail­able at a cost of $60, al­so at all branch­es of Sco­tia­bank. All fin­ish­ers will re­ceive medals and good­ie bags.
