Amit Jaggernauth was six runs shy of a well-deserved century but his splendid effort enabled Blood Brothers to secure a comprehensive 41-run triumph over North Stars in a Group B clash in the Norman’s Windball Cricket League, last weekend.
Playing at the Tacarigua Community Centre Ground in Tacarigua on Saturday, Jaggernauth crafted a masterful 94 out of his side’s winning total of 131 for five. His knock was decorated with ten sixes and four fours.
Anthony Lara (two for 11) and Randy Balliram (two for 24) were the best bowlers for Small Stars, which got to 90 for seven in the 12-over affair. Azim Khan (18) and Ravi Saith (15) were the leading batsmen for the losers, while Ramchand Ramcharan claimed three for 19 for Blood Brothers, which now have three victories from six games in the group. On the other hand, this was North Stars’ first defeat from three outings on this campaign.
On Sunday, Avian Mejias and Terrance Hinds posted a winning opening stand of 78 to pilot Winners to a dominating ten-wicket triumph over Take & Past B in Group B. The consistent opening pair of Mejias and Hinds finished on 39 and 32, respectively, as Winners easily overhauled the target of 73 for five set by Take & Past B. It was win number five for Winners from as a many games in Group C, while Take & Past B suffered its second setback of the season from six matches. Also on the same day, Tamana United brushed aside a youthful and inexperienced Madras United outfit courtesy of an eight-wicket success in a match-up from the Women’s Division. Batting first, Madras ladies got to 37 for eight from ten overs, while Tamana responded with 38 for two in quick time.
