Galve­ston gets the chance to­day to beat the Bernard Du­lal-White­way In­de­pen­dence Cup win­ner Just Call Me Roger in the fea­ture event over 1,750 me­tres for hors­es rat­ed 85 and over. This will be at San­ta Rosa Park in Ari­ma. The De­r­ick Mosca trained colt has been a mod­el of con­sis­ten­cy and found the go­ing on the turf course a bit too tough last time out. Galve­ston was heav­i­ly favoured to win the Grade One - In­de­pen­dence Cup but had no an­swer to Just Call Me Roger's telling burst of speed at the 600 me­tres mark­er. The Glenn Mendez trained, Just Call Me Roger, will again have the ser­vices of No­bel Abrego but on this oc­ca­sion it is un­like­ly that he will be quick­en­ing away from his ri­vals at the far turn as Richard Perez is set to at­tack his main ri­val with his 51 ki­lo im­post. Galve­ston on the main track must be hard to beat.

That be­ing said, Just Call Me Roger is in great form and could prove a for­mi­da­ble op­po­nent and if trans­fer­ring his grass form back to the main track, de­spite his im­post of 57.0 ki­los, could up­set Galve­ston. In what looks a very com­pet­i­tive fea­ture, a bat­tle is ex­pect­ed be­tween Just Call Me Roger and Galve­ston but it is the top-weight­ed Boo­gie Blues which could fol­low my se­lec­tion home. Should Just Call Me Roger and Galve­ston hook up at the far turn then they can set it up for Boo­gie Blues to take it all close home. Al­so in the fray is Strikes Not Spares which has been gal­lop­ing well in prepa­ra­tion for this race. I ex­pect Galve­ston to ex­act his re­venge.
