Champions League-bound T&T will come up against Barbados in three T20 matches as they continue their preparations for the world tournament. Manager of the team, Omar Khan, revealed that the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) has been able to successfully negotiate three matches with the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and the matches will be played next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Khan was high in praise of the TTCB, saying: “We must say well done to the TTCB for organising the three matches in Barbados next week. It shows that the national team preparation committee is thinking, as Barbados presents the closest conditions in terms of pitch nature to what we would expect in South Africa.

“The pitches there have a lot more bounce and carry than those at home and the players are all looking forward to playing there.” The national players will continue their preparations over the next few days with training at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. On Sunday, they play a practice match among themselves as coach David Williams will be focusing on game sense scenarios. The team is also expected to undergo a number of mental preparation exercises before they go off to South Africa and that will start this weekend as well. The team for Barbados is the same 14 who played in the Asia versus the Caribbean T20 tournament in Trinidad. Of that team 10 players are on the Champions League squad, while Justin Guillen, Daren Ganga, Dave Mohammed, Kharey Pierre will make up the 14 to travel.

T&T team to Barbados: Rayad Emrit (capt), Evin Lewis, Adrian Barath, Justin Guillen, Yannick Ottley, Jason Mohammed, William Perkins, Kevon Cooper, Shannon Gabriel, Daren Ganga, Navin Stewart, Kharey Pierre, Dave Mohammed and Sherwin Ganga.
