Na­tion­al ju­nior golfer Ys­abelle Lawrence earned her first win in a Ladies Open tour­na­ment over the week­end at the Agos­ti­ni In­sur­ance Bro­kers Lim­it­ed Ladies Open at the St An­drew's Golf Club in Mo­ka, Mar­aval. Lawrence be­gan the sec­ond day of play in the "A" flight di­vi­sion, nine strokes ahead of her near­est com­peti­tor af­ter fin­ish­ing day one with a two over par 74. She in­creased that lead by three af­ter fin­ish­ing the front nine at lev­el par.

A late charge by Christi­na Fer­reira on the back nine brought her with­in three shots of the lead to fin­ish the first tour­na­ment of the sea­son at three shots back of Lawrence. Lawrence capped her day with 82 (156) with Fer­reira on 77 to fin­ish with a two day to­tal of 159. In the "B" flight, an­oth­er ju­nior golfer Ana Fer­reira shot a con­sis­tent two day to­tal of 173 (86-87) to lead Jen­nifer Grainger at 185, and An­gela Hodgkin­son at 186 to al­so clinch her first win in a ladies' tour­na­ment. Not to be out­shone, Sab­ri­na Chan round­ed off Win­ner's Cir­cle in the "C" Flight with a fi­nal two day to­tal of 195 (104-91) over Bren­da Clarke and fel­low ju­nior Ka­ri­na Matabadal.

The ladies fin­ished the two day tour­na­ment with a sump­tu­ous meal and prize-giv­ing cer­e­mo­ny at­tend­ed by Marc Hen­der­son of Agos­ti­ni In­sur­ance Bro­kers Lim­it­ed. Hen­der­son con­grat­u­lat­ed all golfers for mak­ing the tour­na­ment a spe­cial one and com­mit­ted to con­tin­u­ing to sup­port the Ladies Open in 2013. An­gela Hodgkin­son, ladies cap­tain, thanked AIB for its tremen­dous sup­port over the years in mak­ing this an­nu­al tour­na­ment pos­si­ble. The event is one of on­ly two tour­na­ments on the golf­ing cal­en­dar ex­clu­sive­ly for ladies.
