Talk Nah registered its second consecutive win in the women’s division of the Norman’s Windball Cricket League (NWCL) last weekend at the Tacarigua Community Centre Ground. Coming off a surprise victory over title contenders Combine Force on Saturday, Talk Nah silenced another one of the favourites for the inaugural female silverware in the NWCL, when they whipped Tamana United by four wickets. Chasing 52 for victory, Talk Nah easily reached 53 for six, with Marisha Nickie making 16. Stacy Bolah took two for 11, bowling for Tamana, whose top scorers were Christine Bolah (19) and Monica Abraham (17). In the men’s category, defending champions Spring Village and Base Boys had comfortable triumphs over Aleganero X1 and Ranga X1, respectively.
Spring Village had to work hard for a 20-run success over a gallant Aleganero X1 in Group A on Saturday. Led by solids knock from Emile Rajah (28), Richard Kelly (24) and Rodney Bickram (21), the reigning champs reached 101 for five after 12 overs in its quest of 121. Doing the restriction job for Spring Village were Harvey Rampersad and Christopher Jagmohan with the identical figures of two for eight. Earlier, Jagmohan cracked four sixes and a handful of fours on his way to a brisk 60 to set up the winning total for Spring Village. Richard Ali (25) was also among the runs. And on Sunday, Base Boys defeated Ranga 1X by 41 in a Group D outing. Batting first, Base Boys made 87 for seven from 12 over, before restricting Ranga X1 to 49 for nine. Dexter Samuel bagged 3/7.
