T&T lost their final match of the T20 warm-up series in Barbados yesterday but still won the three-match series 2–1. Playing at the Pine Basin, T&T lost to the hosts by 13 runs, after winning the first game by three wickets and the second by eight wickets. Batting first, consistent middle order batsman Jonathan Carter scored 54 to take Barbados to 150 for six off their allotted 20 overs. Also chipping in with a handy contribution was all-rounder Ryan Hinds who scored 47. The pick of the T&T bowlers was Yannick Ottley who ended with 1/24 off his four overs. In reply, T&T got a useful 34 from Adrian Barath and 28 from Jason Mohammed but lost wickets at regular intervals and reached 137 for seven when their overs ran out.
Perkins continues good form
In the second game on Thursday night, T&T crushed Barbados by eight wickets with 3.5 overs remaining in the second of the three-match Goodwill Twenty20 series at Kensington Oval to take a winning 2–0 lead. Chasing 149 to win, T&T, the Caribbean T20 champions, scored 150 for two off 16.1 overs. Opener William Perkins top-scored with 57 before he was run out by Kemar Roach. Barbados-born Perkins faced 34 balls and struck seven fours and four sixes. He reached his half-century off 28 balls with seven fours and three sixes in a score of 84 without loss in the ninth over. The other batsman dismissed was left-hander Evin Lewis, who was caught at deep cover by Shane Dowrich off off-spinner Renaldo Brathwaite for 34 off 19 balls with four fours and two sixes. The not out batsmen were Adrian Barath on 38 off 39 balls with four boundaries and Kevon Cooper on six off six balls. Earlier, Barbados scored 148 for four off 20 overs after winning the toss. Opener Martin Nurse topscored with 55 off 47 balls including seven fours and one six. His half-century came off 45 balls with six fours and one six at which stage the score was 104 for two off 16 overs. The not out batsmen were skipper Shamarh Brooks on 25 off 14 balls with two fours and one six and Dowrich on seven from six deliveries.
