As the First Cit­i­zens Cup slo­gan says, there will be ab­solute­ly "No Room For Losers" when ti­tle hold­er and three-time fi­nal­ist Neal & Massy Cale­do­nia AIA comes up against two-time win­ner and five-time fi­nal­ists De­fence Force at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo from 8.30 pm for the right to be called 2012 cham­pi­ons and with it an US$80,000 cheque. The run­ner-up will get US$20,000.

Hav­ing start­ed the sea­son win­less in its first four match­es, Cale­do­nia, the reign­ing Caribbean Foot­ball Union Club cham­pi­ons, has man­aged to put to­geth­er two pos­i­tive re­sults in de­fence of its First Cit­i­zens ti­tle: a 2-0 blank­ing of last year's beat­en fi­nal­ist, T&TEC; and 1-0 over CFU Club run­ner-up, Di­recTV W Con­nec­tion, in the semi­fi­nals.

Look­ing ahead to the clash with the "Teteron Boys," long-serv­ing Cale­do­nia Tech­ni­cal Di­rec­tor Ja­mal Shabazz said his team was very hap­py to be in the fi­nal again and was keen­ly an­tic­i­pat­ing the meet­ing.

"With De­fence Force, it's since 1990 we bat­tling them," said Shabazz in his reg­u­lar dry hu­mor voice. "So it's al­ways a plea­sure to meet them on the foot­ball field be­cause off the field we have no chance.

"But on the field we are the sol­diers of the ghet­to. We are the sol­diers of the peo­ple in Mor­vant-Laven­tille, and against De­fence Force it's a plea­sure."

A wel­come boost for Cale­do­nia as well will be mid­field­er Ataulla Guer­ra, who should force his way in­to the start­ing line-up af­ter com­ing on as sec­ond-half sub­sti­tute against W Con­nec­tion.

Guer­ra was side­lined for most of the year with a knee in­jury.

In ad­di­tion, for­mer In­dia-based So­ca War­riors mid­field­er, Den­sil Theobald, Tray­on Bobb, Wal­ter Moore, goal­keep­er Glen­roy Samuel, cap­tain Stephan David, Nu­ru Ab­dul­lah Muham­mad, Ka­reem Joseph, Collin Nel­son, Ja­mal Gay, Con­rad Smith, Trevin Cae­sar and Key­on Ed­wards are all avail­able for se­lec­tion.

Mean­while, De­fence Force coach, Ross Rus­sell, who led his team to the fi­nal in 2010 be­fore los­ing to bmo­bile Joe Pub­lic on penal­ty kicks af­ter a 1-1 draw said, "I'm in the fi­nal so I have a chance. We will take it stride by stride."

So far in this year's com­pe­ti­tion, De­fence Force has beat­en Dig­i­cel T&T Pro League new­com­er Cen­tral FC (3-0) and St Ann's Rangers (2-1) led by the strike duo of Richard Roy and De­vorn Jorsling and the sup­port­ing cast of Jer­wyn Balt­haz­ar and Kevon Carter.

Jorsling, who re­turned to the De­fence Force team this sea­son af­ter spend­ing the 2010 sea­son year in the US Soc­cer League will be com­ing up against some fa­mil­iar faces in the Cale­do­nia squad, which he helped to a record four ti­tles last year.

Af­ter re­turn­ing from his Or­lan­do City, US, stint, Jorsling starred lu­mi­nous­ly for Cale­do­nia AIA dur­ing a six-month stint last sea­son win­ning the Lu­cozade Sport Goal Shield, the FA Tro­phy and help­ing the Mor­vant/Laven­tille club to a close third place fin­ish in the Dig­i­cel Pro League Cham­pi­onship.

The 29-year-old al­so helped the Ja­maal Shabazz-coached Cale­do­nia to its first ever CFU Club Cham­pi­onship and au­to­mat­ic berth in­to the Con­ca­caf Cham­pi­ons League.

How­ev­er in Ju­ly, Jorsling re­turned to his right­ful place-De­fence Force-af­ter a two-year sab­bat­i­cal in which he was able to ex­plore pro­fes­sion­al foot­ball op­tions.

In tonight's open­ing match, spon­sors First Cit­i­zens will play the Pro League coach­es from 6 pm.
