Stacey Siu Butt scored yet an­oth­er hat-trick as Shandy Carib Mag­no­lias kept de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Notre Dame win­less af­ter two match­es, with a 6-2 thump­ing in their T&T Hock­ey Board's na­tion­al in­door women's cham­pi­onship en­counter at Wood­brook Youth Fa­cil­i­ty, Hamil­ton Hold­er Street, Wood­brook, on Thurs­day night. Siu Butt got two goals in the first half, one from the penal­ty spot and Bri­an­na Govia, the oth­er, as Mag­no­lias over­came Car­ol Wynn-White­man's ear­ly strike for the Dames.

In the sec­ond half, Wynn-White­man pulled her team to with­in a goal of Mag­no­lias, but Siu Butt, and Elise Olton with two, added to Mag­no­lias' lead to com­plete the 6-2 vic­to­ry. The win car­ried Mag­no­lias to four points from two match­es af­ter a 5-5 draw with Paragon in its open­er. For­mer na­tion­al stand­out Car­ol Wynn-White­man got a goal in ei­ther half for the Dames, who are with­out a point af­ter los­ing 5-2 to Ven­tures in a re­peat of last year's ti­tle-match on Tues­day night.

At the top of the ta­ble with max­i­mum six points is Ven­tures af­ter a con­vinc­ing 3-1 tri­umph over Mar­itime Har­vard Check­ers, led by a goal each from Lind­say Williams, Yese­nia Luces and teenag­er Anya Sealey. Kwylan Jag­gas­sar got the lone re­ply for Check­ers, which stayed on three points.

Paragon is al­so sec­ond on the sev­en-team ta­ble on four points, the same as Mag­no­lias, but with a bet­ter goal dif­fer­ence af­ter two match­es fol­low­ing a de­fault win over De­fence Force. In the lone Mixed Vet­er­ans Di­vi­sion match, reign­ing cham­pi­ons Queen's Park made it three wins from as many match­es to all but se­cure a semi­fi­nal spot, whip­ping Coro­na Fa­ti­ma 8-4 with the trio of Gary Grif­fith, Paul Weekes and Raphael Govia scor­ing two goals each. To­day is an off day while the Un­der-21 boys and girls di­vi­sion will flick off to­mor­row from 9 am.
