The Sports Company of T&T (SporTT) recently fulfilled a commitment to remunerate volleyball coaches of national junior and youth teams as well as community and school programmes. The presentation was held at the offices of SporTT, Henry Street, Port-of-Spain on Wednesday by Anthony Creed, executive manager, Sport Performance and Development Unit who handed over a cheque for $261,093 to T&T Volleyball Federation vice-president Daymian Stewart, to cover payment of salaries for the period October 2010 to August 2012.
In 2012, the Junior (Under-17) teams enjoyed success in the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA)?tournaments, with the girls copping the regional title while the boys took third place in the respective competition. At the NORCECA level, the results were not as favourable as the Under-20 women placed eighth overall at the Junior Women's tournament and the Under-18 women ended sixth at the Continental Championships.
