Om Shakti of Aranjuez went unbeaten as it eased its way to the Swaha Inter-Temple windball competition title, at the two-day tournament, which concluded on Sunday, at Constantine Park, Tunapuna.
The winner had very little difficulty, as it cruised past Shree Raam Shaam of Diego Martin, in the final to lift the Paramacharya Pundit Hardeo Persad trophy.
Sent in to bat, Shree Raam Dhaam offered very little in response to very accurate and tight Om Shakti bowling led by Mahendra Pamkhelawan, who finished with figures of three wickets for six runs. Shree Raam Dhaam eventually got to an uncompetitive score of 26 for eight, at the end of the ten allotted overs.
Ramkhelawan, who took the man-of-the-match award, received good support from Sunil Boochan, who picked up two wickets, while Riaff Ali allowed just three runs from his two overs.
In reply, Om Shakti reached its target after six overs with Ali hitting an unbeaten 25 runs. In the semifinal, Om Shakti scored an emphatic 39 run victory over Gyaan Jyoti of Madras Road, St Helena. Ali was the top scorer-getting to 35-as Om Shakti amassed 79 for four off the ten overs. Gyan Jyoti could get no further than 40 for five when the overs expired.
Ramkhelawan was the best bowler picking up three wickets for seven runs while Ali claimed two for four.
In the other semifinal, Shree Raam Dhaam made light work of Tulsi Manas in a nine wicket victory. Rishi Ramgoolie turned in a good all-rounded performance to claim the man-of-the-match award.
