National forward Mickell Pierre scored with a few seconds left on the clock as Defence Force held defending champions Petrotrin to a 3–3 draw in their T&T Hockey Board Indoor Championship Men’s Open Division encounter at Woodbrook Youth Centre, Hamilton Holder Street, Woodbrook, on Wednesday night.

The Oilmen went into the match winners of their first two games and trailing Queen’s Park by three points but after a 0–0 first half fell behind with a 24th minute Shane Legerton item.

Seven minutes later Solomon Eccles got the Oilmen level and within a minute he added his second for a 2–1 lead.

However, within three minutes national rifle shooter and Olympian Roger Daniel got the “Teteron Boys” even at 2–2, only for another T&T international, Nicholas Triston Grant, to fire in what looked a winner for Petrotrin in the 38th minute.

But Defence Force would fight on to the very last as Pierre snatched a point for his club on the stroke of full-time.

The draw left Petrotrin third on the table with seven points, the same as Defence Force which has played a match more while the Parkites lead with maximum nine points from three matches.

In the two other Men’s Open matches, Paragon got a hat-trick from Sheldon Mc Kellar in a 5–3 beating of Malvern for its first win in three matches while Notre Dame overcame Corona Fatima 5–2 for its first victory as well after four matches to leave both victors on four points.

Meanwhile, defending champions Queen’s Park secured the top seed for the Mixed Veterans semifinals after blanking Police 5–0 led by a brace from Azad Ali to climb to maximum 15 points from five matches, six ahead of Malvern which trampled Corona Fatima 6–0 inspired by Shawn “Barney” Alexander’s double.
