T&T in­ter­na­tion­al Kristin Thomp­son scored a beaver-trick as Paragon put de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons, Notre Dame on the brink of elim­i­na­tion with a 6-3 thump­ing in the T&T Hock­ey Board In­door Cham­pi­onship Women's Open Di­vi­sion at Wood­brook Youth Cen­tre, Hamil­ton-Hold­er Street, Wood­brook on Fri­day night.

Thomp­son scored in the fourth, fifth, 30th and 37th min­utes for Paragon which led 3-1 at the half-time in­ter­val with Shan­ice Cud­joe (eighth minute) and Zene Hen­ry (26th) the oth­er scor­ers to im­prove to sev­en points from four match­es, the same as Shandy Carib Mag­no­lias, and still in the semi­fi­nal hunt.

The Dames, mean­while got a hat-trick from Bel­gium-based na­tion­al for­ward Blair Wynne in the fourth, 33rd and34th minute but stayed on three points from four match­es, and must beat Mar­itime Har­vard Check­ers (six points) to­mor­row to ad­vance.

In the men's Open, Guyana's Jer­azeno Bell fired in a beaver-trick for Queen's Park to clob­ber Coro­na Fa­ti­ma 9-4 for its fifth straight win from as many match­es to be the top seed ahead of the semi­fi­nals with a match left to play.

Shawn Lee Quay and Do­minic Young added two goals each for the Parkites while vet­er­an play­er, Raphael Govia and Khadeem For­tune got one apiece. For Fa­ti­ma, which has no chance of qual­i­fi­ca­tion for the semi­fi­nals af­ter its fifth straight loss, Dev Lum Kit got two and An­drew Vieira and Ryan Daniel one each.

Paragon al­so se­cured an im­por­tant win with­out break­ing a sweat af­ter de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Petrotrin, sec­ond with ten points from five match­es de­fault­ed due to their play­ers in­volve­ment in a na­tion­al team train­ing camp. The 5-0 win saw Paragon join De­fence Force on sev­en points but the lat­ter has two match­es left to play while Paragon has one against Fa­ti­ma.

And in the mixed Vet­er­ans, the trio of Ronald Dell, Nigel Si­mon and Kern Ram­sam­my were all on tar­get for Carib in a 3-0 shut-out of Po­lice to join Notre Dame in third spot with six points, nine be­hind the per­fect Parkites while Malvern is sec­ond with nine.
