Shandy Carib Magnolias continued its march towards a repeat of titles in the T&T Hockey Board Indoor Championship Under-21 Women's after it registered two lopsided victories at Woodbrook Youth Centre, Hamilton-Holder Street, Woodbrook on?Saturday to cement a semifinal spot ahead of schedule.
Magnolias which crushed Paragon 5-0 in its title defence opener last week, followed up with 10-2 and 12-1 demolitions of Maritime Harvard Checkers and Malvern respectively, to lead the five-team round-robin table with maximum nine points from three matches with a match left against Ventures to be played last night.
In the win over Checkers, Elise Olton got a beaver-trick while Brianna Govia went one better against Malvern for Magnolias. Ventures, third with four points, the same as Checkers warmed up for the clash by beating Malvern 8-0 and drawing 2-2 with Checkers while second placed Paragon (six points) faces Checkers in the other final round clash ahead of next weekend semifinals.
In the Men's Under-21 Division, title holders, Queen's Park also won for the third straight time, 11-2 over Notre Dame for maximum nine points, three ahead of Carona Fatima which slammed Paragon 28-0 for the biggest win of the tournament. For Fatima, Ryan Daniel had a tournament -high seven goal outing while Scott Pitchery added six, Quinn Clarke and Michael Durity beaver-tricks, and Andrew Vieira and Marcus Pascal, hat-tricks.
