T&T bats­men Justin Guillen con­tin­ued to give Ba­jans a T20 les­son, as he scored his sec­ond suc­ces­sive half cen­tu­ry yes­ter­day to take his team to vic­to­ry over ICBL Em­pire. ICBL Em­pire, the on­ly team to con­test three fi­nals in the five-year BCA Sagi­cor Gen­er­al Twen­ty20 cham­pi­onship, were again painful­ly beat­en at the 'death' and by way of the Su­per Over elim­i­na­tor in Se­ries 2.

Play­ing at Dayrells Road, Guillen showed what T20 crick­et is all about. On Sat­ur­day he made 57 off 34 balls at No three, in a to­tal of 147 for six against LIME at Wildey, and Wan­der­ers went on to win by one run off the very last ball.

On Sun­day, the left-han­der again went to the crease at No three, af­ter Wan­der­ers won the toss and smashed 54 off 31 balls with sev­en fours and two six­es (a strike rate of 174.19), be­fore he was fifth out, bowled by leg-spin­ner Niko­lai Charles with the score 83 off 12.3 overs.

Guillen's ef­fort en­abled his team to tal­ly 123. Em­pire, with five wick­ets in hand, could on­ly equal the home team's score in 20 overs. Em­pire, cham­pi­ons in 2010 and run­ners-up in 2009 and last year, man­aged just four for one in the one-over elim­i­na­tor with the likes of big-hit­ting Bar­ba­dos T20 play­er Al­cin­do Hold­er, Ros­ton Chase and Kevin Stoute as the bats­men against the Wan­der­ers cap­tain, fast bowler Ja­son Hold­er.

Wan­der­ers, eas­i­ly knocked off the runs in three balls-one of them a wide. They were helped sig­nif­i­cant­ly by a way­ward bowl­ing and the vic­to­ry came with Ja­son Hold­er at the crease. Wan­der­ers reg­is­tered their sec­ond thrilling win to joint­ly top Zone 'A' on eight points with Sagi­cor Life UWI.
