Third-placed Leeds United will go into its penultimate CRILLE-sponsored Central Football Association Premier Division match against Las Lomas United tonight at Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Woodford Lodge, from 7 pm, needing a win to keep its title chances alive.
The in form Leeds are currently third on the standing with 35 points from 18 matches, six behind Cunupia FC which ended it campaign on Monday with an important 1-0 win over Cap Off Youths to stay on course for its third piece of silverware this season, having won the inaugural Hugo Francis Memorial Cup and the Ramsingh Sports World FA Trophy.
A win for Leeds, which also needs to make up a big goal difference, will carry the title race down to the final round of matches on Monday when it faces Cap Off Youths. However, the title could also be decided before Monday’s match, should the Disciplinary Committee rule in favour of second-placed Enterprise Youths, who were beaten 3-2 by Leeds on Monday and would move to 43 points and claim the title.
On Tuesday, St Mary’s won by default from Harlem Strikers, which, after leading the table at the halfway stage, lost its way, while lowly Perseverance Ball Runners won its derby clash with KC Perseverance United 2-1 with a double from Akim Wilkinson.
The winners of the Premier Division will collect $10,000 and secure the CFA's lone spot in the T&T Football Federation “Champion of Champions” competition from which three teams will qualify for the blink/bmobile National Super League. Second gets $5,000, third, $3,000 and fourth, $2,000.
