League champion Queen's Royal College (QRC) will be aiming for its second major title today, when the "Royalians" faces Tranquility Secondary in the Form One North Zone Knockout final at QRC Ground from 9.15 pm. Led by top forward Darius Dickson, QRC enters the match as favourites to take the season after a nearly flawless league campaign, in which it went unbeaten and drew just one match, against Fatima College.
Tranquility, which finished third out of five teams in the league campaign, will go into the match as underdogs having already lost to QRC this season. Dickson, who is the Royalians leading scorer this season, was instumental throughout, including the semifinal round, where he scored the opening goal in a 3-0 drubbing of Success Laventille, last Saturday.
He opened the scoring in the 12th minute, after heading past the Laventille goalkeeper, following a lofted cross from Miguel Williams on the left side. Dickson also aided in the second, when he hit a powerful effort, which was parried by the shot stopper, and into the past of Augustine Nkemakolam, who finished easily. The scoring was wrapped up in the 26th minute, via a solo effort from Twon Grannum, who played a through ball to himself on the left flank, before dribbling past two Success Laventille defender and hitting a precise shot beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
Tranquility advanced to the final with a victory over Mucurapo Secondary on penalty kicks. (AP)
