Devon Modeste scored early and very late as St Ann's Rangers held Police FC to a 2-2 draw at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella in their final match of 2012 in the Digicel T&T Pro League.
In the second match of the Saturday double-header, North East Stars needed an 83rd minute item by substitute Elijah Manners to pluck a late 1-0 win over bottom of the table T&TEC FC.
The victory pushed the Stars up a spot into third on the standings with ten points from six matches, six behind leaders Defence Force, while second placed Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA is second with 13 and a match in hand, as well.
Meantime, Police and Rangers remained sixth and seventh with six points and five points respectively.
Pushed into a centre forward position, Modeste paid dividends to Head Coach Dean Pacheco.
Modeste fired Rangers ahead in the 12th minute with a powerful blast past Police goalkeeper Keston Mata after meeting a well-timed through ball from talented midfielder Kurdell Braithwaite.
However, the Lawmen leveled the scores 1-1 in the 27th minute when Errol Charles headed past Zane Coker from Kareem Perry's cross.
Coach Richard Hood's side then got the break-away goal in the 64th minute when Anton Hutchinson headed in a Trent Noel freekick for a 2-1 advantage; but in the third minute of injury time Modeste, who muffed a clear-cut chance in the 78th, got his team a share of the points when he headed in from close range, after a corner from the left was headed back across goal by substitute Kyle Bartholomew.
It was the sixth league goal of the campaign for Modeste to go level with former clubmate Josimar Belgrave (Defence Force) as top scorers so far, this season.
In the second match, the deadlock was broken following an embarrassing slip-up by T&TEC goalkeeper Akini Adams who allowed what seemed a harmless cross to slip through his gloves and legs to make its way to Manners for an easy tap in and all three points for Stars, yet to be beaten after six league matches under first-year coach Angus Eve.
