Four teams-Siparia, La Romain, Valencia and Laventille-have all entered the Christmas break unbeaten in their respective sectors in the Hoop of Life Community Basketball League, and will be seeking to continue their form into the second stage of the competition.
With the exception of South Sector One's Siparia, which relies primarily on team play, all other teams have produced notable individual talents.
Point guard Dereck Boxill of La Romain (South Sector Two) has been on top of his game throughout the campaign, aiding the squad with his experience from the Super 10 Basketball League, which he and his club Defence Force won at the end of the past season. He, alongside former NCAA talent Adrian Joseph, have been instrumental.
Valencia Magic of East Sector Three is led by forward Fabrice Fisher, who, with over seven years of experience in the first division, has proved an exceptional player together with teammate Stefan Davis.
North Sector One giants Laventille, which has thus far worn the tag of league favourite, has sported court specialists in the likes of national forward Steven "Lighter" Lewis, fellow national guard Kurt "Coto" Christian, guard Kenneth Roberts and former national centre Ashton DeMurrell.
All four teams have played and won four matches at the end of 27 nights of basketball, and not much separates the four teams, which are all vying for the top purse of $1 million.
The teams which finish in second and third place will take home $500,000 and $250,000, respectively.
The league involves 720 players and 240 administrators, coaches and managers attached to 60 teams.
