Four teams-Siparia, La Ro­main, Va­len­cia and Laven­tille-have all en­tered the Christ­mas break un­beat­en in their re­spec­tive sec­tors in the Hoop of Life Com­mu­ni­ty Bas­ket­ball League, and will be seek­ing to con­tin­ue their form in­to the sec­ond stage of the com­pe­ti­tion.

With the ex­cep­tion of South Sec­tor One's Siparia, which re­lies pri­mar­i­ly on team play, all oth­er teams have pro­duced no­table in­di­vid­ual tal­ents.

Point guard Dereck Box­ill of La Ro­main (South Sec­tor Two) has been on top of his game through­out the cam­paign, aid­ing the squad with his ex­pe­ri­ence from the Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League, which he and his club De­fence Force won at the end of the past sea­son. He, along­side for­mer NCAA tal­ent Adri­an Joseph, have been in­stru­men­tal.

Va­len­cia Mag­ic of East Sec­tor Three is led by for­ward Fab­rice Fish­er, who, with over sev­en years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the first di­vi­sion, has proved an ex­cep­tion­al play­er to­geth­er with team­mate Ste­fan Davis.

North Sec­tor One gi­ants Laven­tille, which has thus far worn the tag of league favourite, has sport­ed court spe­cial­ists in the likes of na­tion­al for­ward Steven "Lighter" Lewis, fel­low na­tion­al guard Kurt "Co­to" Chris­t­ian, guard Ken­neth Roberts and for­mer na­tion­al cen­tre Ash­ton De­Mur­rell.

All four teams have played and won four match­es at the end of 27 nights of bas­ket­ball, and not much sep­a­rates the four teams, which are all vy­ing for the top purse of $1 mil­lion.

The teams which fin­ish in sec­ond and third place will take home $500,000 and $250,000, re­spec­tive­ly.

The league in­volves 720 play­ers and 240 ad­min­is­tra­tors, coach­es and man­agers at­tached to 60 teams.
