T&T ju­nior golfers com­pet­ing in Mi­a­mi at the Ju­nior Or­ange Bowl and the World Ju­nior Chal­lenge in Palm Har­bor proud­ly car­ried their coun­try's flag and ex­celled in two ma­jor tour­na­ments at the end of De­cem­ber.

Matthew Mar­quez, who qual­i­fied to play in the Ju­nior Or­ange Bowl Golf Tour­na­ment by win­ning the 16-17 age group boys di­vi­sion in the Caribbean Am­a­teur Ju­nior Golf Cham­pi­onships, had an ex­cel­lent start to the tour­na­ment shoot­ing a 67 to be in sec­ond place af­ter day one.

Mar­quez fol­lowed this fan­tas­tic round up with rounds of 72, 77 and 75 to fin­ish in 25th po­si­tion out of a field of 62 cham­pi­ons from coun­tries such as Eng­land, Swe­den, France, Ger­many, South Africa, South Ko­rea, Japan, USA, Cana­da, Ar­genti­na, Brazil, Co­lum­bia etc. The tour­na­ment was played on the Bilt­more Golf Course in Coral Gables, Mi­a­mi.

Sachin Ku­mar, An­drei Collins and Wan Ju Lee com­pet­ed at the World Ju­nior Chal­lenge with Sachin play­ing in the 14 & un­der di­vi­sion with rounds of 72, 74, 79 and fin­ish­ing sec­ond to Sam Jung of the USA.

An­drei Collins, com­pet­ing in the boys 15-19 age group, fin­ished in 12th place shoot­ing rounds of 78, 74 and 78.

The T&T Golf As­so­ci­a­tion of­fered its con­grat­u­la­tions to the play­ers on their per­for­mances un­der try­ing windy and cold con­di­tions and TTGA pres­i­dent Ken­ny At­tai stat­ed that it showed how far our golfers could go with the nec­es­sary ex­po­sure to over­seas com­pe­ti­tion.

T&T is com­pet­ing in the Co­pa de las Amer­i­c­as-a tour­na­ment for South, Cen­tral and North Amer­i­ca this week at the Do­ral Blue Mon­ster Course in Mi­a­mi. The team com­pris­es Matthew Mar­quez and Tal­in Ra­jen­dranath in the men's di­vi­sion, and Moni­fa Sealy and Kelsey Lou Hing in the women's di­vi­sion.
