CAS­TRIES, St Lu­cia-Tick­ets for the Caribbean T20 tour­na­ment went on sale in St Lu­cia Thurs­day, ahead of Sun­day's start of the pres­ti­gious re­gion­al com­pe­ti­tion in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

St. Lu­cia is host­ing the sec­ond and fi­nal phase of the com­pe­ti­tion and or­ga­niz­ers in Cas­tries say al­ready there is a de­mand for tick­ets rang­ing in prices from EC 15 dol­lars to EC 25 dol­lars.

Or­gan­is­ers say chil­dren un­der age 16 ac­com­pa­nied by an adult pur­chas­ing a full price tick­et will be ad­mit­ted free. "The ear­ly signs are that there is a great de­mand for tick­ets" de­clared Cindy McLean, the Caribbean T20 Event Man­ag­er. "This is the first time the tour­na­ment will be played on the is­land and peo­ple on the street are talk­ing about the match­es".

The Caribbean T20 starts on Sun­day with a show­down be­tween de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Trinidad & To­ba­go and last year's los­ing fi­nal­ists Ja­maica at Queen's Park Oval.

Match­es will be played in Trinidad un­til Jan­u­ary 12. The event then moves to St Lu­cia for the sec­ond phase at Beause­jour Crick­et Sta­di­um from Tues­day, Jan­u­ary 15 to Sun­day, Jan­u­ary 20.

"The start at Queen's Park Oval is just a few days away, and I can say al­ready the sales have been very good" said Mclean. "We ex­pect max­i­mum en­ter­tain­ment on the field for the large crowds who will at­tend the match­es. We want to en­sure that every­one who wants a tick­et can get one." (CMC)
