CASTRIES, St Lucia-Tickets for the Caribbean T20 tournament went on sale in St Lucia Thursday, ahead of Sunday's start of the prestigious regional competition in Trinidad and Tobago.
St. Lucia is hosting the second and final phase of the competition and organizers in Castries say already there is a demand for tickets ranging in prices from EC 15 dollars to EC 25 dollars.
Organisers say children under age 16 accompanied by an adult purchasing a full price ticket will be admitted free. "The early signs are that there is a great demand for tickets" declared Cindy McLean, the Caribbean T20 Event Manager. "This is the first time the tournament will be played on the island and people on the street are talking about the matches".
The Caribbean T20 starts on Sunday with a showdown between defending champions Trinidad & Tobago and last year's losing finalists Jamaica at Queen's Park Oval.
Matches will be played in Trinidad until January 12. The event then moves to St Lucia for the second phase at Beausejour Cricket Stadium from Tuesday, January 15 to Sunday, January 20.
"The start at Queen's Park Oval is just a few days away, and I can say already the sales have been very good" said Mclean. "We expect maximum entertainment on the field for the large crowds who will attend the matches. We want to ensure that everyone who wants a ticket can get one." (CMC)
