Twelve years after its formal opening, the Dwight Yorke Stadium, situated in Bacolet, Tobago, will undergo the first of several facelifts as part of the Sport Company of T&T’s (SporTT) programme of upgrades scheduled to take place in 2013.

The upgrades will be implemented by German contractor Berth Hammers and assisted by local contractor Brian Ibrahim of the Fitness Centre Limited.

The stadium will undergo a range of improvements with special attention given to the track and playing field areas in the initial stage of construction.

Speaking on the project, Minister of Sport Anil Roberts spoke of the necessity of upgrades to support the upcoming athletes, some of whom have already represented the country from the sister isle.
