Goal shoot Jenice Smith con­vert­ed 14 of 21 at­tempts as Uni­ver­si­ty of South­ern Caribbean stunned de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons TSTT 34-17 when the Al­ter­na­tive Di­vi­sion of the 23rd sea­son of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League (ASNL) jumped off at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Or­ange Grove Road, Tacarigua, on Tues­day.

Goal at­tacks Gabrielle Good­ing with 11 from 26 and Afiya Alex­is with nine from 12 al­so made valu­able con­tri­bu­tions for USA which led 9-3, 17-7 and 24-11 at the end of the first three quar­ters.

For TSTT, which, on Sat­ur­day, re­peat­ed as di­vi­sion­al cham­pi­ons in the open­ing day knock­out com­pe­ti­tion, Sophia Harp­er scored ten of 24 at­tempts and Ali­cia John sev­en of 13.

Al­so in win­ners row on Tues­day was Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T, 36-28 over Po­lice, led by Jameela Mc Carthy's 26 goals from 40 at­tempts.

Chris-Ann Petrovani with six from sev­en, Kim­ber­ly Col­lette with three from sev­en and Latisha Pitt (one from five) were the oth­er con­trib­u­tors for UTT, which ex­tend­ed a nar­row 10-9 first-quar­ter ad­van­tage to 20-15 at the half be­fore Po­lice clawed its way back to 24-25 at the end of third, on­ly to fal­ter again in the fi­nal pe­ri­od.

Giselle Hob­son-Richards (16 of 27) and Giselle Navar­ro (12 from 20) got Po­lice goals.

To­day is a rest day while match­es in the Cham­pi­onship and Pre­mier Di­vi­sions will jump off to­mor­row from 1 pm.

In the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion, Bermudez meets De­fence Force from 1 pm fol­lowed by last year's run­ner-up Fire Ser­vice against UWI, while de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Po­lice tack­les 2012 sec­ond run­ner-up Jabloteh.

UTT, win­ners of the open­ing day knock­out tour­ney, on Sat­ur­day be­gins de­fence of its pre­mier­ship crown against last year's sec­ond place fin­ish­er Po­lice from 6 pm with for­mer win­ners Fire Ser­vice and De­fence Force squar­ing off at 4.45 pm.
