A 15-member Secondary Schools team has been selected to take part in the second International School Cricket Premier League (ISCPL) which will be held in Lucknow, India from January 25-29.
The team will be led by allrounder Jovan Ali of Vishnu Boys College and includes several players who represented T&T in last year's West Indies youth tournament. Among them are Jeremy Solozano (Hillview), Brian Christmas (Trinity East) and Nicholas Pooran (Naparima College).
Other members of the team are: Tion Webster (Barataria), Bryan Charles (Presentation College), Shaquille McDavid (El Dorado East), Mikel Riley (Success Laventille), Joshua Ramdoo, Carmillio Carimbocas, Mathew Hollingsworth (Fatima), Jesse Bootan (Hillview), Dominic Nandlal (Siparia Secondary), Justin Joseph (Carapichaima), and Djorn Charles (Signal Hill).
Coach of the team is Keshava Ramphal with Wesley Dookoo (manager), Ravi Ramnanan (trainer), Sookoo Sonnylal (team leader), and Germaine Gray (laison).
The team was selected from among the outstanding players from the 2012 cricket season. The players have been in training for the past three months with its head coach Keshava Ramphal.
Venue for the tournament is City Montessori School, Lucknow, which is a unique school with many firsts to its credit. It is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest private school in a single city with more than 40,000 students on its rolls.
At City Montessori School, every activity is oriented towards the promotion of peace, brotherhood, harmony and unity and the 2ndISCPL is yet another event which shall support this cause.
