With the open­ing spot not set­tled, Justin Guillen has put his hand up for se­lec­tion to the na­tion­al crick­et team for the up­com­ing re­gion­al First Class crick­et sea­son.

The tal­ent­ed left han­der scored back to back cen­turies in the na­tion­al tri­al match that end­ed at the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre (NCC) in Cou­va yes­ter­day. He slammed 130 as his team reached 317/9 in their sec­ond in­nings against the Amit Jag­ger­nauth XI.

Bat­ting first, Guillen's XI made 277 on Fri­day, with the Queen's Park cap­tain hit­ting 115 laced with a num­ber of well timed strokes. Al­so among the runs was wick­et­keep­er Nicholas Pooran who got 60.

Jag­ger­nauth's team re­spond­ed with 360 all out with half cen­turies from Khary Pierre 65 and Isa­iah Ra­jah 56.

Bat­ting a sec­ond time yes­ter­day, Guillen's team bat­ted out the day with the skip­per lead­ing from the front.

Guillen has been in good form since his stint in Bar­ba­dos to­wards the end of the year and he will be look­ing to make this count in the up­com­ing re­gion­al First Class sea­son.
