With the opening spot not settled, Justin Guillen has put his hand up for selection to the national cricket team for the upcoming regional First Class cricket season.
The talented left hander scored back to back centuries in the national trial match that ended at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva yesterday. He slammed 130 as his team reached 317/9 in their second innings against the Amit Jaggernauth XI.
Batting first, Guillen's XI made 277 on Friday, with the Queen's Park captain hitting 115 laced with a number of well timed strokes. Also among the runs was wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran who got 60.
Jaggernauth's team responded with 360 all out with half centuries from Khary Pierre 65 and Isaiah Rajah 56.
Batting a second time yesterday, Guillen's team batted out the day with the skipper leading from the front.
Guillen has been in good form since his stint in Barbados towards the end of the year and he will be looking to make this count in the upcoming regional First Class season.
