The 2013 Jetsam Awards scheduled for February 1, is expected to be bigger and better than years gone by.
This was revealed by chief executive officer (CEO), of the Arima Race Club, Christopher Armond, at the launch of the awards, at the President's Box, Queen's Park Oval, yesterday.
Armond said he was excited for the event as there will be changes which will enhance the night's proceedings. He suggested that with the addition of the award for the top West Indian bred sprinter, things were only going to get better.
From the looks of it the horses for the major awards, the ill-fated Bruceontheloose, who died last week from colic, is likely to capture three awards yet again and be made Horse Of The Year for a record fourth time.
Bruceontheloose is expected to be adjudged the top West Indian bred sprinter, top West Indian bred stayer and the Horse of the Year, based on his excellent performance in 2012.
Armond said that he expect some 300 attendees at the gala ceremony which will see the connections of the Breeder's Cup Sprint winner Trinniberg in the limelight.
He announced that Shivanada Parbhoo, owner of the horse, will be the feature speaker.
Trinniberg showed his class when winning Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint (Grade I) ahead of favourite The Lumber Guy.
