The T&T team started the fete by mashing up Guyana by nine wickets to secure a hattrick of regional T20 titles, Dwayne Bravo continued it on the stage at the ground after the match and the T&T fans finished it early yesterday morning at Rodney Bay in St Lucia.
After dancing and prancing all night at the picturesque Beausejour cricket ground in Gros Islet, the Trini fans used whatever transport they could have found to get out of the ground and assemble at the popular Rodney Bay area.
While some used rented vehicles, others mounted the back of pick-up trucks and were waving flags and screaming in an impromptu motorcade, announcing to all that T&T were the T20 kings of the region.
Although entertainment was provided by the ground, they wanted to have their own party because they prefered to fete with T&T music instead of St. Lucia's big hit at the moment 'Cocoloco'.
As vehicles reached the Rodne Bay area, it became clustered very soon and the popular Upper Level owned by a Trini businessman was the preferred choice.
However, it was packed out very quickly and others ventured into anything resembling a bar. The fete was also on the streets and the St Lucian people were joining in. They had for the most part of the tournament supported T&T and on Sunday night they joined in the fun.
Known travellers and supporters of the national team, Peter Mathews and Fazil Jahoor were leading the pack and the party was rocking. Drinks flowed like water as the Piton became the beer of choice in the absence of Carib.
Discussion about the T&T team was the main point as everyone gave their two cents on the victory. It was a night when St Lucia experienced the way Trinis fete and for a couple of hours, all was great in this beautiful Island.
Yesterday morning St Lucia was pretty quiet as locals went to work and their Trini friends were nursing the effects of a night well spent. Some looked as if they were ran over by trucks, while others just did not get enough and were looking for the bars, early on a Monday morning to have a T20 drink.
