Joycelyn Marcelle had another successful outing when she led all scorers with 22 goals from 27 attempts to guide Bermudez to its fifth consecutive victory on the trot, this time at the expense of UWI (43-36), as action continued in the Courts All Sectors Netball League, on Thursday evening.
Bermudez, which was on top from the onset and cruised to a 23-15 lead at the half, remained on top of the six-team standings with 10 points, two more than Police, which dropped Defence Force 46-28 in the day's opening Championship Division match.
In the win for Bermudez, Marcelle was given support from Kathy James who scored 17 goals from 23 attempts. For the losing team, UWI, which sits second from bottom with one win in five outings, Abeni Taylor led the charge with 18 goals from 27 tries. Akeela Rodriguez scored 13 for UWI from 25 attempts. Police, too, controlled its encounter against Defence Force with a lead in all four quarters, 12-8, 23-13, 36-21, 46-28.
Jenice McIntosh and Donneisha Wickham were the top scorers with Police with 19 goals (from 23 attempts) and 13 (from 21), respectively. Claudia Joseph also aided with 12 from 19 attempts. Despite her team's loss, Melissa Snaggs James was the match's leading scorer with 21 goals from 30 attempts.
The league and all of its divisions will be out of action for two weeks during Carnival, and will resume on February 14.
