Jar­rin Solomon and Ger­rone Black set per­son­al best times when they sped to re­spec­tive vic­to­ries at the Don Kir­by Elite In­door Meet in Al­bu­querque, Mex­i­co, on Fri­day.

T&T's Olympic men's 4x400m bronze medal­list Solomon con­tin­ued his un­beat­en run for the 2013 sea­son win­ning the 400m ti­tle in 46.23 sec­onds for a new per­son­al best time in the event. He im­proved on his pre­vi­ous per­son­al best (46.32) es­tab­lished when he cap­tured his third straight New Mex­i­co In­vi­ta­tion­al 400m ti­tle on Jan­u­ary 25, at the same venue.

Solomon topped the first heat ahead of Dean Delfani (Ari­zona) and Ja­cob Seal­by (Wash­ing­ton State), who ran in 46.88 and 47.23, re­spec­tive­ly. The 27-year-old al­so im­proved on his fourth placed fin­ish in last year's race. Solomon opened his 2013 sea­son with a vic­to­ry as he took the 600m (1:17.63) on Jan­u­ary 18.

The New Mex­i­co Uni­ver­si­ty grad­u­ate sits in eighth po­si­tion on the 2013 IAAF Per­for­mance List for the men's 400m with his 46.32-sec­onds fin­ish. Com­pa­tri­ot De­on Lendore leads the list with his 45.91 sec­onds set on Jan­u­ary 19, in the same dis­tance. An­oth­er T&T run­ner, Ade Al­leyne-Forte sits 22nd with a 46.88 run set on Jan­u­ary 26. Solomon, Lendore and Al­leyne-Forte were mem­bers of T&T's men's 4x400m team which won bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in Lon­don, Eng­land last Au­gust in a na­tion­al record of 2:59.40. Olympic men's 400m bronze medal­list Lalonde Gor­don is the fourth mem­ber of the squad.

Black (Port­land State) claimed the women's 60m fi­nal in 7.27 sec­onds. The 23-year-old im­proved from her pre­vi­ous best of 7.30, which she set in her third placed fin­ish at the Amory Col­le­giate, in New York, on Feb­ru­ary 1. Black got to the line ahead of Asia Coop­er (Mis­sis­sip­pi) 7.29 and Asia Good­en (Ari­zona State) 7.37. In the heats Black was al­so the quick­est in 7.33. Black is cur­rent­ly placed at 25th in the world women's 60m in­door rank­ings with her 7.30 clock­ing.

De­an­dra Daniel (Cop­pin State) was al­so in the win­ners' row, tak­ing the women's triple jump at the Ursi­nus Col­lege In­door Open in Col­legeville, Penn­syl­va­nia on Fri­day. Daniel topped the field in 11.64m and al­so fin­ished third in the long jump with a sec­ond round ef­fort of 5.40m.The Dovers ath­lete missed out on a third medal in her pet event, high jump, when she failed to clear her open­ing height.
