BRIDGETOWN�Rook­ie pac­er Miguel Cum­mins and off-spin­ner Ash­ley Nurse shared eight wick­ets, spurring Bar­ba­dos to first in­nings points over Guyana in the Re­gion­al Four-Day Cham­pi­onship in Bar­ba­dos yes­ter­day.Cum­mins grabbed four for 42 from 13 overs and Nurse cap­tured four for 74 from 18 overs, as the Guyanese were bowled out for 225 about 15 min­utes past the sched­uled close on the sec­ond day of their sec­ond round match at Kens­ing­ton Oval, con­ced­ing a first in­nings lead of 142.The Bar­ba­di­ans were nought with­out loss from one over in their sec­ond in­nings when stumps were drawn on an­oth­er com­pelling day's play.

Sev­er­al of the vis­i­tors' bats­men got starts, but failed to car­ry on � Leon John­son hit the top score of 46 for the vis­i­tors, Der­win Chris­t­ian made 37, Veerasam­my Per­maul got 34, Rons­ford Beat­on was not out on 30 and Christo­pher Barn­well added 23.This un­fold­ed af­ter Guyana's spin­ners fought back to equal­ly share the last six Bar­ba­dos wick­ets, as the home team were bowled out for 367 in their first in­nings about 25 min­utes be­fore lunch.

Bar­ba­dos cap­tain Kirk Ed­wards led the way with 120, Shane Dowrich scored 39, Ros­ton Chase gath­ered 28 and Christo­pher Jor­dan chipped in with 23.Left-arm spin­ner Veerasam­my Per­maul, the Guyanese cap­tain, was the vis­i­tors' most suc­cess­ful bowler with three for 82 from 25 overs, off-spin­ner Steven Ja­cobs end­ed with two for 61 from 20 overs and leg-spin­ner De­ven­dra Bishoo fin­ished with two for 84 from 23.2 overs.

Jor­dan put Guyana on the back-foot ear­ly, when he had Tage­nar­ine Chan­der­paul, son of vet­er­an West In­dies bats­man Shiv­nar­ine Chan­der­paul, caught at gul­ly for five in his third over.

Cum­mins tight­ened Bar­ba­dos' grip, when Ra­jen­dra Chan­dri­ka was caught be­hind for 11, and the Guyanese stum­bled to 41 for three, when Steven Ja­cobs was caught at gul­ly off Cum­mins for a duck.

This opened the flood­gates and the Guyanese were soon wob­bling on 124 for six, af­ter As­sad Fu­dadin was lbw to Nurse for 14 and Christo­pher Barn­well was caught be­hind off the same bowler for 23.Per­maul came to the crease and bat­ted with typ­i­cal free­dom, putting on 45 for the sev­enth wick­et with Chris­t­ian be­fore he edged Chase to Jor­dan at slip, where De­ven­dra Bishoo edged Nurse to give the same field­er a sec­ond catch, leav­ing Guyana 170 for eight.

Bar­ba­dos how­ev­er, were thwart­ed in their bid to dis­miss the Guyanese un­der the fol­low-on to­tal of 218, when Beat­on and Chris­t­ian put on 45 for the ninth wick­et.But Chris­t­ian was lbw to Cum­mins three runs shy of the tar­get be­fore Cum­mins wrapped up the in­nings, when he had Keon Joseph caught at cov­er for six.
