Emile Ramsammy continued his winning ways yesterday, when he partnered Buffalo Soldier to an easy 5 1/2 lengths success in the feature and opening event on the Arima Race Club (ARC) Day 6 card.
Sent off by punters in the five horse field at the prohibitive odds of 1-5 Buffalo Soldier never gave his backers any anxious moments.The Derick Mosca trained thoroughbred was sent straight into the lead by Ramsammy in the feature event for three year old and over horses rated 85-65 on the main track. Buffalo Soldier was tackled by the John O'Brien trained Oasis early on but by the far turn that rival hoisted the white flag. It was then up to his stablemate Piston and Rings to attack. However, once in line for home, Ramsammy gave the Merlin Samlalsingh owned gelding Buffalo Soldier the office and the result was never in doubt.
Buffalo Soldier cleared away from his rivals for a very easy success while continuing the good riding form of Ramsammy, who leads the jockey's standings.Wild Shuffle was third with Becquerel in fourth, with the other starter Oasis finishing last of the five runners.Buffalo Soldier recorded the time of 1:53.0.
Riding honours for the day fell to Ramsammy, who landed three winners. He piloted Buffalo Soldier, Messi and Schyler's Gold to victory.Training honours for the day went to champion O'Brien, who saddled three winners on the eight-race card.Racing continues next week at the centralised venue.
