PowerGen has taken the lead after the opening round of matches in the T&T Cricket Board's 2013 Premiership series.
The PowerGen boys on the back of a double 10 from opener Nicholas Sookdeosingh defeated newcomers Diamond United by an innings at Syne Village in Penal. With the win PowerGen got 26 points to move into the early lead.
Close on their heals in defending champions Queen's Park Cricket Club who also won their opening game. The Parkites missing some of their top players were able to rebound and defeat Bamboo after losing on first innings. The catalyst to their victory was a brilliant hundred by Petrock Nicholas. The Oval Boys got 26 points for the win and will be looking to continue their winning ways this coming weekend.
Also on winners row was Alescon Comets cricket club led by former T&T captain Daren Ganga.
The right hander himself scored an attractive half century in their first innings to push them to victory over newcomers Caldrac at California.
Moosai Sports follows in the standings with 24 points after getting a win by default over W-Connection Wanderers who continues to stay away from the cricket over their protest action.
Following Moosai are Aranguez (17), Clarke Road (16), Esmeralda (9) and Merry Boys (9) all of whom played to draws in their first match.
