Hillview College spin bowler Shameer Murudali seems to like the figures of 5/13. It was just three weeks ago, Murudali had the same match figures when Hillview defeated PresentationCollege, Chaguanas by ten wickets. Murudali's 5/13 yesterday, led Hillview to a crushing nine-wicket win over Fatima at Mucurapo Road in the Powergen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Premier Division.
Bowling first, Hillview rolled over the Fatima batsmen, bowling them out for 54. Jesse Bootan also gave Murudali support by taking 3/5. Only two Fatima batsmen got into double figures, Kelly Rosales (10) and Jean-Paul Rock (10 not out). In response, Hillview got to their target with the loss of just one wicket behind B. Ramdial's unbeaten 36. Kelum Carimbocas (1/14) was the lone wicket-taker for Fatima.
At Honeymoon Park, Naparima got the better of El Dorado East by eight wickets. Batting first, El Do made 173 all out with Tevon Jadee making 29, while National Under-19 batsman Ewart Nicholson pitched in with 22. Jonathan Singh grabbed 4/28 for Naparima.A rain interruption reduced the chase to 102 off 40 overs, and Naparima cruised to their target in 23 overs. Roberto Samai (42) and Justin Sankaran (36) were the top scorers for Naps.
Union Claxton Bay (UCB) batted first when they took on Presentation College at Green Park, Felicity. UCB got to 186 all out off 45.4 overs with Brandon Bhim top scoring with 41. Also contributing to the total was Dillion Bhim (28) and Wesley Balroop (23). Among the wicket-takers for Presentation were Emilio Gopaul (3/42), Brian Charles (2/28) and Sachin Balai (2/26). Presentation's total was revised to 149 off 40 overs because of rain. Brian Charles led the way for Pres with an unbeaten 44. Shawn Vealva (42) and Kamil Pooran (21) also guided Presentation to a seven-wicket win with two overs to spare.
