National cricketer Stacy Ann King had a great all round performance, which led Technocrats to a comfortable eight wicket win over Spice Girls on Sunday at the Fulham Recreation Ground in round one of the T&T Women's Cricket Association (TTWCA) 40-over League.
Bowling first in this shortened 36-over per team match, Technocrats restricted Spice Girls to 103 all out in 27 overs. Alice Collins topscored for Spice Girls with 24, while Mckeila John made 23. King finished with figures of 3/19, who was ably supported by Sharon Wharton (3/26) and Alexie Ali (2/18).
In reply, King led by example again making half of the runs (52 not out), which took Technocrats to 104/2 off just 13.3 overs. Another National player Gaitri Seetahal, contributed 32.
At Honeymoon Park, Tunapuna, Moosai Ladies were also in the winning column defeating MAAAD Rangers by nine wickets. Rangers batted first and made a paltry 96 all out. Alison Baksh top-scored with 17 and Kamara Ragoobar had great bowling figures for Moosai, grabbing 3/6. Chadean Nation (2/5) and Karishma Ramharack (2/13) picked up two wickets a piece.
At Pinto Recreation Ground, Phoenix Women prevailed against Cricket Lovers by seven wickets. Cricket Lovers were bowled out for a dismal 65 in 23.4 overs with Jovanka Simon top-scoring with only 16. The Phoenix women shared the wicket taking duties. Shenelle Lord (3/8), Felicia Walters (2/11), Samantha Bissoon (2/16) and Britney Cooper (2/19) were all among the wickets.
In response, Phoenix got to 66/3 in 12.3 overs. Britney Cooper's unbeaten 27 helped get them to their target. Jovanka Simon grabbed 2/16 for the Cricket Lovers.
