A sec­ond-half brace from na­tion­al mid­field­er Key­on Ed­wards was enough to guide Neal & Massy Cale­do­nia to an ad­van­tage and ul­ti­mate­ly vic­to­ry, as the Mor­vant-Laven­tille club went with­in four points of the leader, De­fence Force, when ac­tion con­tin­ued in the Dig­i­cel TT Pro League, on Sat­ur­day evening.

The match, which opened a dou­ble-head­er at the Mar­vin Lee Sta­di­um, saw the Caribbean Club Cup cham­pi­on take ad­van­tage of De­fence Force's slip-up to rock-bot­tom T&TEC, record­ed 24 hours pri­or.

The night's oth­er match saw Cen­tral FC con­tin­ue a de­cent run of re­sults with a 2�1 win over North East Stars in an elec­tric af­fair, which saw the vic­tors' coach An­gus Eve dis­missed. De­spite for­mer na­tion­al strik­er Cor­nell Glen scor­ing his ninth goal of the cam­paign, Cen­tral FC scored quick-fire goals from Mar­vin Oliv­er (34th) and Ja­son Mar­cano (36th), for its fifth vic­to­ry af­ter 13 out­ings.

Cale­do­nia, how­ev­er, took the spot­light in its to-and-fro match with Rangers. The win­ning team was ex­pect­ed to claim vic­to­ry to fol­low its round-one 2�1 win over the same op­po­nents, while keep­ing tabs on the top of the ta­ble.

Akim Arm­strong put Cale­do­nia ahead in the 39th minute af­ter beat­ing Rangers' cus­to­di­an Akel Clarke to a cor­ner kick. Rangers re­spond­ed just five min­utes in­to the sec­ond half, be­fore Ed­wards got his first item in the 65th. Ed­wards' goal fol­lowed a clash be­tween the goal­keep­er and re­cent­ly in­tro­duced play­er Shel­don Hold­er.

Clarke was sub­se­quent­ly re­placed by Zane Cok­er, who had to re­move the ball from the back of the net twice lat­er. Be­fore that, how­ev­er, De­von Mod­este scored to give Rangers' it sec­ond equalis­er of the match.

But, Cale­do­nia wrapped up all three vi­tal points when Ed­wards com­plet­ed his dou­ble in the 81st, and the sub­sti­tute Hold­er scor­ing a minute be­fore the end of reg­u­la­tion time.
