T&T will look to make light work of Leeward Islands when the two meets at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts in the WICB Regional Super50 competition. The "Red Force" will be seeking to make it two wins in-a-row after beating Windward Islands by 16 runs on Thursday in its opening match in St Vincent.
Jason Mohammed was key in that victory, scoring an unbeaten half century (63 not out) and will again be looked upon to lead with the support from youngster Nicholas Pooran, who on his debut registered 33 not out.
Also making valuable contributions were Evin Lewis with 31 and Yannick Ottley (28). The 21-year-olds will also be called on to give T&T solid batting as they were vital in T&T reaching 216 for 5.
Bowlers Yannic Cariah and Ottley did well with the ball in helping T&T to four points for the win as they contributed to bowling out Windwards for 202. Cariah had a five-wicket haul (5/44) while Ottley claimed 2/33.
T&T will again be without their captain Denesh Ramdin, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo, who are all on duty with the West Indies team. Two other matches are carded for today with Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) playing Barbados at Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados and Windwards taking on Guyana at Arnos Vale Cricket Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent.
The Barbados Cricket Association's selection panel, yesterday picked experienced allrounder Dwayne Smith as the replacement for Jonathon Carter for the match. Carter will remain with the West Indies as cover for opener Johnson Charles for today's second One Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe.
Carter was originally called up as cover for Kieron Pollard, who was experiencing travel difficulties in reaching Grenada ahead of the start of the three-match One-Day Series.
However a WICB release late yesterday said Pollard has since arrived and will be available for the second One-Dayer at the Grenada National Stadium against Zimbabwe.
