Comets over Parkites in Premiership race

Alescon Comets cricket team led by former T&T captain Daren Ganga has taken the lead in the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Premiership tournament after their victory over F&E Diamond United on the weekend.

 

Going into the second round the Parkites held a slim one-point lead over PowerGen with Comest in third position. On Sunday evening both Queen’s Park and Comets recorded outright victories. Queen’s Park got 23 points, while Comets got 25 points for their win.

 

As the team heads into this weekend’s action, Comets go in as leaders with 51 points - two ahead of QPCC who has 49. In third position is Moosai Sports who got 24 points from their forfeited game against W-Connection Wanderers in the first round and a first innings win last weekend. They have 37 points and following in fourth position one point behind them is PowerGen, who battled to a draw against Esmeralda in the last round. 

 

First Citizens Clarke Road United, having a solid season so thus has 34 points after winning two matches on first innings. Newcomers Caldrac follows with 30 points after getting 24 points from their forfeited clash against Wanderers who continue not to show for their matches because of protest actions.

 

Propping up the table are newcomers Diamond United with eight points, they would consider themselves unlucky, as they just lost out to Comets by 36 runs in their last game.
