For­mer na­tion­al duo, Afeisha Noel and Si­mone Mor­gan com­bined to lead Fire Ser­vice to a close 38-35 vic­to­ry over Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT), its first loss in five match­es in the Pre­mier­ship Di­vi­sion of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Tacarigua on Sat­ur­day.

Goal­shoot­er Noel led all scor­ers with 25 goals from 39 at­tempts while goal at­tack Mor­gan added 13 valu­able goals from 17 at­tempts to lead for­mer cham­pi­ons Fire Ser­vice to the nar­row win af­ter it held a com­fort­able 14-7, 25-16 and 33-22 ad­van­tage at the end of the first three quar­ters.

For UTT, goal­shoot Daystar Swift and goal at­tack Jil­lisa Al­lan con­vert­ed 17 goals each from 20 and 28 at­tempts re­spec­tive­ly while an­oth­er for­mer na­tion­al stand­out, Janelle Bark­er chipped in with one from three at­tempts for UTT.

In the oth­er Pre­mier­ship en­counter, goal shoot­er Gur­sh­er Grant and na­tion­al goal at­tack Joelisa Coop­er in­spired Po­lice to a hard fought 45-42 de­feat of ri­vals De­fence Force af­ter trail­ing for the first three quar­ters. Grant end­ed 31 goals from 38 at­tempts and Coop­er, 14 from 19 as the Law-women over­came scores of 11-12, 23-25 and 33-34 over the first three quar­ters to outscore De­fence Force 12-8 in the fi­nal pe­ri­od to snatch the win.

Long-serv­ing na­tion­al goal­shoot­er Anasta­cia Wil­son had a match-high 39 goals from 55 at­tempts and Kime­ria James, three from, four in the los­ing ef­fort for the "Teteron women".

It was a mix­day for Po­lice as their Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion women suf­fered a set­back in the de­fence of their ti­tle, 25-31 to Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies (UWI).

For UWI, Abeni Tay­lor and Akeela Ro­driguez each scored 15 goals while Jenice Mc In­tosh had a team-high 14 for Po­lice which led 9-5 and 13-10 at the end of the first two quar­ters be­fore falling be­hind 20-24 at the end of the third.

Al­so in win­ners row in the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion were Jabloteh and Fire Ser­vice, 31-24 and 36-35 over De­fence Force and Bermudez re­spec­tive­ly.
