Less than two weeks af­ter the Car­ni­val cel­e­bra­tions, which oc­cu­pied the venue, the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo, is ready for sport­ing ac­tion.

This is ac­cord­ing to fa­cil­i­ties man­ag­er at the Sports Com­pa­ny of T&T (SporTT) An­tho­ny Blake who gave his stamp of ap­proval af­ter in­spect­ing the fa­cil­i­ty on Fri­day. Ac­com­pa­ny­ing Blake on the in­spec­tion were javelin coach Is­mael Mas­tra­pa, elite per­for­mance man­ag­er To­bias Ot­t­ley as well as ju­nior ar­chi­tect, Stephen Spence.

"The first ma­jor event card­ed for the Sta­di­um is the Carif­ta Tri­als on March 2nd and 3rd," said Blake, not­ing that im­me­di­ate­ly af­ter Car­ni­val, the fa­cil­i­ty un­der­went a com­plete san­i­ti­za­tion. All in­fra­struc­ture was dis­man­tled and mi­nor re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion works were un­der­tak­en. "It is al­so im­por­tant to high­light the com­pre­hen­sive pro­tec­tion giv­en to the IAAF A1 Cer­ti­fied Track to which there was no dam­age or de­te­ri­o­ra­tion," said Blake, who was en­tire­ly sat­is­fied with the qual­i­ty of cov­er­age for the sur­face.

"De­spite the thou­sands of pa­trons that flowed through the gates, we man­aged to pre­serve all the ath­let­ic sur­faces, ex­act­ly as planned."

The Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um was re­opened for use by ath­let­ic and oth­er clubs on 22 Feb­ru­ary and will be avail­able for track and field, foot­ball and oth­er sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties.
