Josh Pinard and Colin Ramasra showed their class on Thursday evening as the top seeds were in action at the Petrotrin 20th Anniversary Squash Tournament at the Petrotrin Club, Pointe-a-Pierre.
The 23-year-old Pinard cruised past Sheldon Skeete in straight sets 11/3, 11/2, 11/2. Ramasra, a six-time National Champion also had an easy day at the office, defeating Michael Wei 11/3, 11/1, 11/0.
The Bajan duo of Gavin Cumberbatch and Shawn Simpson also showed their experience on the day, beating Kavir Mohammed and Kevin Ramsumair, respectively. Cumberbatch got past Mohammed 11/6, 11/4 and 11/8, while six-time Barbados champion Simpson also did not have many problems, winning in straight sets.
On the ladies side of the draw, Rhea Khan showed why she is expected to win the title. Khan had a comfortable win over Ingrid Lloyd 11/3, 11/6, 11/7. The Patrick brothers, Mandela and Nku, had contrasting days at the tournament. Mandela defeated Peter Pirtheesingh in straight sets. However, younger brother Nku lost to former champion Paul De Verteuil 11/9, 12/10, 11/7.
