In semifinal action yesterday at Petrotrin's 20th anniversary Squash Tournament at the Petrotrin Club, Pointe-a-Pierre, Josh Pinard's tournament came to an end as Colin Ramasra found his best form at the right time.
Ramasra needed four sets to get past Chin in the quarterfinal. However, Ramasra defeated Pinard in straight sets, 11/8, 11/7, 14/12.
In the second semifinal, Simpson beat his countryman Cumberbatch in four sets. Simpson won the first set 11-8, but Cumberbatch fought back to win the second 11-8. Simpson won the next two sets to set up a showdown with Ramasra in the final.
Earlier in his quarterfinal match, Pinard cruised into the semifinal. He defeated Chayse McQuan convincingly in straight sets, 11/4, 11/1, 11/7 Ramasra faced a more difficult opponent in his quarterfinal against Julian Chin.
Ramasra won the first two sets (11/4,11/7) but Chin bounced back to win the third set 12-10. However, Ramasra finished off the match in the fourth set, 11-6.
