Na­tion­al play­er Col­in Ra­mas­ra de­feat­ed Shawn Simp­son on Sat­ur­day in the men's fi­nal of the Petrotrin's 20th an­niver­sary squash tour­na­ment at the Petrotrin Club, Pointe-a-Pierre.

Ra­mas­ra got past coun­try­man Josh Pinard in straight sets in the semi­fi­nal. How­ev­er, six-time Bar­ba­dos cham­pi­on Simp­son gave Ra­mas­ra more of a chal­lenge.

In the first set, Ra­mas­ra edged Simp­son 14/12 but in the sec­ond set the match took a twist as Simp­son crushed Ra­mas­ra 11/2 to leave the match in the bal­ance.

Ra­mas­ra, how­ev­er, proved his cham­pi­on met­tle and put any con­cerns out the win­dow for the home crowd as he won the next two sets, 11/8 and 11/4.
