El­ton Wal­cott picked up a sil­ver medal in the men's triple jump at the Na­tion­al Ju­nior Col­lege Ath­let­ic As­so­ci­a­tion (NJ­CAA) In­door Track and Field Cham­pi­onships in Lub­bock, Texas on the week­end. Wal­cott (South Plains) took the run­ner-up spot with a in­door per­son­al best dis­tance of 15.82, miss­ing out on the top spot by one cen­time­tre. Wal­cott is the el­der broth­er of Olympic men's javelin gold medal­ist Keshorn Wal­cott.

He al­so holds the na­tion­al ju­nior record (16.43) and is a four-time Carif­ta cham­pi­on. His South Plains team-mate Shu-Shau­na Ma­son was third in the women's 60m fi­nals with 6.95, equalling the time she clocked in the heats. Ma­son was al­so sev­enth in the 200m in 24.92. Ker­ne­sha Spann (West­ern Texas) fin­ished fifth in the women's 400m fi­nals in an in­door per­son­al best of 56.11 im­prov­ing on the 56.66 set in the heats when she ran the third fastest time.

Iowa Cen­tral's Jes­si­ca James was al­so fifth in the women's 600m fi­nals (1:35.43) clock­ing the third fastest in the heats (1:35.43). James was al­so eighth in the 800m fi­nals (2:24.98. Abi­ane Col­ly­more (Bar­ton Coun­ty) was 11th in the pre­lims (2:28.58) and did not qual­i­fy for the fi­nals. South Plains swept the men's and women's team ti­tles.
