Michael Hospedales net­ted a sec­ond-half dou­ble to lead Mal­abar FC to a 6-1 maul­ing of En­ter­prise Youths on Match Day Two of 2013 blink/bmo­bile Na­tion­al Su­per League Cham­pi­ons of Cham­pi­ons qual­i­fiers at the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T Ground, O'Meara Road, Ari­ma on Sun­day night.

Go­ing in­to the en­counter, both Mal­abar and En­ter­prise were lev­el on three points af­ter open­ing round come-from-be­hind 2-1 vic­to­ries over Point Fortin Civic Cen­tre and St Fran­cois Na­tion­als re­spec­tive­ly.

Fol­low­ing an even­ly matched first 45 min­utes, Mal­abar took a 1-0 with­in a minute of the restart via Hospedales and on the hour mark he added an­oth­er for a 2-0 lead.

With 12 min­utes left in the match Shan­del Samuel ex­tend­ed Mal­abar's ad­van­tage to 3-0 and with­in two min­utes it was 4-0 thanks to a strike from Kevon Corn­wall to put the con­test to rest.

Stephen White­man then got a con­so­la­tion for En­ter­prise with five min­utes left in the match and there was still time for Nor­rel George to get an­oth­er for Mal­abar in the 87th minute to se­cure a sec­ond straight win and lev­el at the top of the six-team ta­ble with Guaya Unit­ed which whipped cel­lar-placed Civic Cen­tre, 5-1 in the day's ear­ly match at Guayagua­yare Recre­ation Ground led by a Car­lon Hugh­es hat-trick,

Hugh­es got his goals as ear­ly as the third, 29th and 54th min­utes to car­ry his tal­ly to four in two match­es while Ryan Stew­art (67th) and Ear­lon Thomas (78th) added one each.

Matthew Bartholomew, a for­mer na­tion­al youth team-mate of Hugh­es and Stew­art had drawn Civic Cen­tre lev­el in the 20th minute.

Over at the Ply­mouth Recre­ation Ground, home side, Bethel Unit­ed over­came an ear­ly set­back to de­feat St Fran­cois Na­tion­als, 3-1 for its first win.

For the sec­ond straight match, St Fran­cois went ahead to long-serv­ing mem­ber Lorne Joseph be­fore Nicholas Bald­win got Bethel lev­el in the 39th, af­ter which Keron Williams (78th) and Je­re­my To­by, a minute from full-time got sec­ond-half strikes.

Match­es will con­tin­ue on Sun­day, with Guaya host­ing Mal­abar from 3.30pm; St Fran­cois against Civic Cen­tre at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Train­ing Field, Mu­cu­rapo from 4pm and Bethel at home to En­ter­prise, one hour lat­er.

At the end of the round-robin se­ries on March 24, the top two teams will gain pro­mo­tion to the 2013 Su­per League com­pe­ti­tion.
