Goal shoot Jameela Mc Carthy single-handedly led the University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) to a convincing 26–12 spanking of Police in their Alternative Division knockout final of the Courts All Sectors Netball League at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua, on Tuesday night.

Mc Carthy ended with 21 goals from 25 attempts while goal attack Sharon Phillip chipped in with five from seven attempts for UTT, which last week captured the Alternative Division league title while its senior peers have also won the Premier Division league, Opening Day knockout titles, as well as the March Past so far this season.

For Police, Jesselle Navarro scored eight from 14 and Giselle Norton-Richards, four of five in the loss.

Earlier on in the semifinals, Mc Carthy scored ten from 17 and Phillip, eight from 15 to lead UTT past Opening Day knockout winner TSTT 19–11 while Norton-Richards tallied ten from 16 attempts to fire Police past University of Southern Caribbean 16–13.

Today, two matches are on schedule in the Retro Division, with CCS against Les Enfants from 5.30 pm followed by recently crowned champions, TSTT coming up against Les Femmes from 6.30 pm.

On Monday, the title race in the Championship Division could well be decided when current table leaders Bermudez faces fourth-placed UWI from 7.20 pm, needing a win to be certain of the crown.

Currently, Bermudez leads with 14 points from nine matches, one more than last year’s winner Police, which won its duel on Saturday 51–49 to halt its opponents title celebrations.

Police, which has an inferior goal difference to Bermudez, will play Defence Force on Tuesday in its final match and will be hoping for UWI to avoid defeat to give it a chance at victory.
