Heatwave's Phillip Clarke topped the 20-lap points race in the Open division to swell his lead in the standings by 18 points, when the T&T Cycling Federation continued its Road League with its fifth series of races, in San Fernando, on Saturday.
The win put Clarke, who has taken the league by storm, on 34 points, after he crossed the finish line ahead of teammate Jamol Eastmond and T&T national cyclist Varun Maharajh of Rigtech Sonics. Eastmond finished second to add five points to his total which stands at 16 points. Maharajh added three points with a third place finish to advance to fifth spot. Team Trek's Gevan Samuel currently occupies third spot with seven points, along with Olympic cyclist Njisane Phillip.
Team DPS' Justin Roberts leads the Open Sprints division with six points, just a point above Warren Mckay, who took five points with a victory in the Open One-lap event.
