Goal shoot Kathy James and goal at­tack Joyce­lyn Mar­celle com­bined for 32 goals as Bermudez held off a spir­it­ed per­for­mance from UWI to se­cure a 32-27 win and with it the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion in the 23rd sea­son of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Tacarigua, on Mon­day night.

Go­ing in­to the en­counter, Bermudez held a one-point lead over last year's win­ner Po­lice and need­ed a vic­to­ry to be cer­tain of de­thron­ing its main ri­val.At the end of the first quar­ter, Bermudez looked on course for a com­fort­able win and led 11-5. How­ev­er, for the next two quar­ters, UWI, led by Abeni Tay­lor and Akeela Ro­driguez, chipped away at their op­po­nents' ad­van­tage and trailed 21-22 with a quar­ter left.

But that was as close as things would get as Bermudez used a 10-6 fi­nal pe­ri­od score to com­plete its task and cap­ture its first ti­tle of the sea­son.James end­ed with 18 goals from 25 at­tempts and Mar­celle got 14 from 17 for the win­ners while Tay­lor led UWI with 18 from 27, while Ro­driguez chipped in with nine from 18 at­tempts.
