Ottley gives Moosai edge over Comets
Kjorn Ottley scored a century yesterday to give Moosai the edge against Alescon Comets in this top of the table fifth round clash in the T&T Cricket League Premier Division two-day competition.
Left-handed Ottley made 116, which took Moosai to 284 all out. He was supported by Guyanese batsman Geetendra Sookdeo (35) and Navin Stewart (34). Spin bowler Imran Khan gave the Moosai batsmen some problems, picking up 5/80. In response, Comets got to 141/5 at the close.
Comets will start day two with some hope, as former national captain Daren Ganga (41) and wicketkeeper Stephen Katwaroo (28) are both unbeaten at the crease. Javon Seales and Stewart grabbed two wickets apiece to limit the Comets batsmen.
In a low scoring encounter, Merryboys took a slim first innings lead against QPCC at the Northern Recreation Ground. Batting first, Merry Boys were bowled out for 143. Aaron Alfred’s 37 was the top-score, while Troy Cornelius contributed 32. Akeal Hosein (3/8) and National player Amit Jaggernauth (3/52) both took three wickets.
Rayad Emrit’s five wicket haul (5/30) destroyed the Parkites’ batting, limiting them to 135 all out. Hosein offered some resistance, making 32. At the close Merry Boys got to 43/1 in their second innings, behind Mario Belcon’s unbeaten 32.
