Comets seek revenge against Parkites

Leaders Alescon Comets would be looking for revenge this weekend when they welcome Queen’s Park to their Pierre Road Ground in the sixth round of the T&T Cricket League Premier Division two-day competition.
On Wednesday, the Parkites defeated Comets by 79 runs in the T20 competition. However, Queen’s Park would be without many of their star players such as Dwayne Bravo, Adrian Barath and Kieron Pollard.
They would be in action for the National team against the Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC) in their regional four day clash which starts today at the Queen’s Park Oval. Comets lead was reduced from 22 points to 15 last weekend when they lost first innings points to Moosai, and would be looking to get maximum points against the weakened Parkites outfit.
Fourth place Powergen will host eight place Seenath’s Auto Bamboo at Syne Village. Both teams are coming off convincing wins in the last round. Powergen rolled over HKL Aranguez by nine wickets and Bamboo got the better of Esmeralda by 77 runs.
Bamboo has been improving as the season has gone along, prior to their win last weekend they narrowly lost to leaders Comets by 13 runs. Both teams would be missing their star players form the last round, as Powergen’s Jason Mohammed and Bamboo’s Yannick Cariah are in the squad today for Red Force. Mohammed smashed an unbeaten 102, while Cariah had a good all round performance.
At California, newly promoted Caldrac would be the home team against second place Moosai. Caldrac has proven they belong in the Premiership Division winning two and drawing one of their last three matches. Moosai were unlucky not to win last weekend against Comets, the latter barely hanging on for a draw.
In other matches, Merry Boys will host HKL Aranguez at St Mary’s Grounds, FCB Clarke Road United will travel to Kennedy Park to face F&E Diamond and Esmeralda will have a rest weekend because they are scheduled to play W Connection Wanderers. Wanderers have defaulted all their matches to date this season.
